The Assistant

POSTPONED   but not abandoned

‘The Apprentice’ is the only TV show I watched  regularly. Sir Alan Sugar puts 15 candidates through a series of tasks during which one or more of the losing team gets fired. At the end, the remaining one is hired at a salary of £100,000. I think I have a few things in common with Sir Alan and I even did a little business with him in the past. I don’t have his money and I doubt if I can get any TV coverage but the basic idea appeals to me and so I came up with ‘The Assistant’.

The fact is that I want an assistant to help me to sell my biography featuring two famous women. I intend to choose a maximum of ten candidates and set them some relevant tasks which I may film and use to make a DVD. After each task, one or more will be fired . The successful candidate will become my assistant at the Frankfurt Book Fair and will receive a percentage of the book and DVD sales at or generated by the Fair which could be more than the annual salary paid by Sir Alan if it were calculated on a daily basis.

The Candidates:

• Candidates must be female, aged 18-30 with long black or blonde hair and sign an agreement to be filmed for a DVD which may be sold to the public or even appear on TV. For the event, the winning candidate will dress her hair in Victorian style and possibly wear Victorian costume too.

• Candidates should be fluent in English and be able to read and write it well. ( unless you are only interested in dancing  or singing  when English ability is less important - please see  Dancer or Singer Only opposite.)
Both Catherine Hayes and Lola Montez spoke several European languages but I won’t insist on that.

• An abilty to sell is essential and being a singer and/or dancer could make you the winner.

To Apply:

Send your CV with a photograph and a letter (by post only) telling me  why you would be the ideal candidate to:

Candidates should keep a copy of their entry and send an email via the Contact Us   page of this site  informing us that an entry has been posted. That way, we can advise the sender if their mail is not received.  In the last year, a calendar and a magazine were lost.

Dancer or Singer?

If you would like to be considered for a short dance routine for a DVD or you can sing,  then you are welcome to apply for an audition for that purpose alone.

The dance routine will require stripping  topless for part of it - just as Lola Montez did  in the 19th century.

For singing, wearing  a low cut long dress  in the Victorian style  is required.

In either case, burn your bra as they were not invented until 1904 and we must be authentic!!   No corsets either because they were too difficult to get off  or they restricted the singer. Catherine and Lola did not wear them on stage.
